The festivities commenced with a gala dinner, welcoming VIP guests, key clientele, media, and influencers. The hotel also introduced special offers aimed at enhancing guests’ stays and experiences

Executive Pastry Chef at Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre, Chef Dammika Herath, also created a luxurious box of chocolates using 25-year-old vintage cocoa from Gran Couva, Trinidad

The hotel also took guests back in time with a unique stay experience – Step Back Suite, which was designed with décor that took guests back to a nostalgic time. The celebrations will conclude with the Chronicles of Ceylon festival this November and the festive celebrations – Christmas & New Years in December.

How did the idea of Chronicles of Ceylon come about?

For many years, Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre Hotel has been hosting various high-profile Sri Lankan events, including weddings and social gatherings, and has welcomed numerous Sri Lankan dignitaries. The hotel’s Executive Chef, Rozio Methias, and Executive Pastry Chef, Dammika Herath, both hailing from Sri Lanka, represent different regions of the island country. Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre Hotel has earned a reputation not only for presenting sophisticated international cuisines but also for offering high-quality, flavourful, and authentic Sri Lankan food to its patrons.

Through the Chronicles of Ceylon, both chefs are bringing flavours from their heritage and recipes passed down over generations, with each dish telling a story woven with tradition

One of the primary motives for hosting this food festival was to entice and introduce our guests to the beautiful cuisine of Sri Lanka. The aim is not only to cater to the Sri Lankan residents of the UAE but also to those who are interested in exploring and learning more about the country’s food, culture, and culinary heritage.

Please tell us about the Chronicles of Ceylon and how the festival will be experienced by both inhouse guests and F&B guests.

The Chronicles of Ceylon is a highly anticipated event. The Chronicles of Ceylon will highlight Sri Lankan-inspired dishes, presenting five dishes from each of the island’s five distinct regions: North, South, Central, Cosmopolitan, and Rural from November 24 to 26. It will offer a tantalising array of 25 salads and snacks, 25 main courses, and 25 desserts, collectively celebrating the richness and diversity of Sri Lankan cuisine.

The hotel has tied up with Kiru Kishokumar, the renowned Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, who has her roots from Jaffna. Kiru, along with the hotel’s chefs, will present the Jaffna recipes passed down through three generations and offer an authentic, healthy, delicious and true representation of the northern food of Sri Lanka.

Bringing the food of her Malay heritage will be Ruzaina Hadgie, a celebrated spokesperson for Sri Lankan cuisine and a food enthusiast. Working alongside Chef Roziro and Chef Dammika, she will recreate recipes that represent her roots.

To kick-start the celebrations, the hotel will also host two exclusive pop-ups featuring the renowned fashion designer Ramona Oshini and Island People.Co, founded by Dubai-based Interior Designer, Kaushali Fernando

The Step Back Suite was decorated with interiors that are reminiscent of generations past, with the story-driven suite setting the stage for guests to experience what hospitality was like back in the day. The bed and lounge area was furnished with quirky textiles, lace curtains, and vintage lampshades.

Thoughtfully curated down to the smallest details, the suite features a globe, a traditional alarm clock, an antique radio, and a dial-up telephone to call guest services.
